When planning a getaway, there are many decisions to make: where to go, what to do, what to eat and where to stay! This final point involves many factors: pricing, location, and also the type of place where you would feel more comfortable staying. Here at Lisbeyond we might be a little biased, but we believe that choosing a short-term rental is the best solution.
Why? We present to you 5 reasons!
Reason #1 - A Home away from Home
Traveling to a new place is always a true adventure, with new skylines, food, people, public transportation and much more. Even though this is very exciting, some parts of traveling can become overwhelming. So it is important to come back to a comfortable place, that you can call home during your stay.
A short-term rental gives you more space (and more amenities, a topic that we explore further below!), a more flexible check-in and check-out schedule, and a kitchen to use and prepare your own meals, allowing you to feel right at home!

Reason #2 - Feel like a local
A short-term rental has a clear advantage that hotels can not compete with: it allows guests to live as locals during their stays! Being amidst a vibrant neighbourhood makes it more easy to blend in with the local community, businesses and environment. And best of all, you will easily stumble upon hidden gems that are typical for the area you are staying in!

Reason #3 - More privacy
The perks of feeling at home extends to other areas of your stay, for instance, to the privacy you would have: no noise of other guests’ activities through thin walls, no passing through public spaces like lobbies, endless corridors, elevators, and receptions.
Simply open your door and you are in your own private space straight away!

Reason # 4 - Big group friendly
If you are traveling with a big group, regardless of if this is with your family or a group of friends, it comes with several challenges, one of them being logistics! In a short-term rental you are not separated by different floors of the hotel, or need to call each other what the other’s plan is.
You can choose a property that has enough space for all of you, so you can enjoy more time together!
And usually, it also is a much cheaper option than going to a hotel with a group!

Reason #5 - Amenities
Something that definitely sets a short-term rental apart from a hotel is, without a doubt, the amenities that you have available. Some of them do depend on the type of property that you rent, because after all, apartment conditions are different to the ones of a villa. But besides a pool, jacuzzi or sauna, we will mention amenities that set apart the short-term properties, especially if you decide to book a longer stay (7+ days):
Washing machine!
Long gone are the days where you have to wash your clothes in bathroom sinks or pay an extra fee to get your laundry done. Most short-term rental properties have a washing machine available so you can do laundry as if you were at home.
WiFi
Having less people connected to the same network allows for a stronger and faster WiFi connection, which is great for instance for remote workers.
Kitchen
A kitchen in your rental is one of its biggest perks, it allows you to save money by not having to eat out all the time, and also enjoying the comfort of your own food, creating once again, that home-away-from-home feeling.
SPACE!
You do not have to spend your stay stumbling over suitcases, or trying to fit your things into tiny cabinets. You will have a lot more space in a short-term rental!

All in all, we at Lisbeyond believe that staying in a short-term rental property will be the most suitable solution for most people. But of course, the most important thing is that you find the best solution that fits with your budget and needs!
